After installing Monogram and importing the demo content (or starting fresh), there are several WordPress settings you should configure to ensure everything works correctly.

If you used the demo import, most of these settings are configured automatically. Review each section below to verify they are set correctly, or configure them manually if you skipped the demo import.

## Configuration Checklist

Here is a quick overview of what to configure. Each item has its own detailed guide:

## Quick Verification After Demo Import

If you ran the demo import, verify these settings are correct:

1. **Front page** - Go to **Settings > Reading** and confirm **Your homepage displays** is set to **A static page** with the correct pages selected.
2. **Permalinks** - Go to **Settings > Permalinks** and confirm **Post name** (`/%postname%/`) is selected.
3. **Menus** - Go to **Appearance > Menus** and confirm your navigation menus are assigned to the correct menu locations.
4. **Customizer** - Go to **Appearance > Customize** and browse through the panels to see the imported settings.

Even if the demo import configured everything, it is good practice to review these settings so you understand where they are and what they do. You will likely want to customize them as you build out your site.

## Starting Without Demo Import

If you chose not to import the demo content, you need to configure all these settings manually. Follow each sub-article in order for the best experience:

1. **Set Front & Blog Page** - Essential for the homepage to display correctly.
2. **Permalinks Setup** - Required for clean URLs and portfolio/FAQ links to work.
3. **Thumbnail Regeneration** - Important if you are migrating existing content.
4. **Content Migration** - Helpful if you are moving from another theme.
5. **Theme Translation** - Set up if your site is not in English.

## Next Steps

After completing the initial configuration, explore the Customizer (**Appearance > Customize**) to personalize colors, typography, portfolio settings, animations, and more. Each of the 17 Customizer panels is covered in the theme Customizer documentation.
