Summary: The design half of a listing: grid, slider, carousel or ticker, the three card types, columns per screen size, and the section title that turns a list into a section.
Availability: Pro only.

The design half. The behavior half is Listing settings and query.

## Listing type

:::deflist

Grid
: Rows and columns. The default for archives and most page sections.

Slider
: One screen at a time, moved by arrows or a swipe.

Carousel
: A continuous strip, with presets including a hero variant that features one post.

Ticker
: A single moving line, for headlines rather than for browsing.

Singular
: One post, used where a block features a single item.

:::

Term listings have their own set: grid, slider, and ticker.

Listing type and card type are chosen separately. The same card works in a grid and in a slider, and that separation is what gives you combinations rather than a fixed catalog.

## Card type

Three types for posts:

:::deflist

Card
: Media on top, text below. The standard.

List
: Media to the side, text beside it. Denser, and better for long lists.

Overlay
: Text over the image. For showcase rows, and it needs strong images.

:::

Turning the thumbnail off gives you a text row with no media, which is right for secondary selections where images would compete with the main content.

Term cards add a **label** type, for a compact row of category pills.

The logic rather than the catalog: overlay for a showcase, list for a dense list, text only for the secondary selections.

## Layout

Columns are set separately for desktop, tablet, and phone. Alongside them: gaps, alignment of the card contents, and the aspect ratio of the media.

<div data-callout="tip">

Three columns and a sidebar do not fit comfortably on one screen. Choose one or the other. See Basic settings for the sidebar.

</div>

## Section title and promo bar

A listing can carry a heading, a subtitle, a "view all" link, and a promo bar above it. Those are what turn a list into a section of a page rather than a loose row of cards.

The same elements are available separately, outside a listing. See Promo bar.

## Where global styles take over

Colors, fonts, corner radius, and density are not set here. They come from the theme and the listing inherits them. See Match the styles to your brand.

That is deliberate. Otherwise every listing on the site would have to be repainted separately, and a brand change would mean editing thirty blocks.

<details><summary>Can I give one listing different colors?</summary>

Not from the listing settings. Some surfaces offer a background choice for the block as a whole, but the card colors follow the theme so the site stays coherent.

<details><summary>The cards in a row have different heights</summary>

Turn on the line limits for the title and description. Uneven text length is what makes cards uneven.
