## Building a post with an Elementor template

There are two ways to build the post page in Elementor, and both deserve a deliberate decision rather than a click.

## The two routes

**Through the theme.** At [[Verba > Theme Options > Single Post > General]], set the single post source to Elementor template. The theme then renders your saved template instead of its native post.

**Through Elementor Pro.** Build the single post in Elementor own Theme Builder. The theme takes no part at all, and its settings show a note saying so.

## What you give up

This is the paragraph that matters.

Verba reading features, the TL;DR, key points, table of contents, reading bar, AI summary, and sources, do not work on such a page by themselves.

The reason is simple: all of them are drawn by the native post template. No native template, no elements.

You can rebuild some of them by hand. Some are available as widgets; others would need a solution of your own.

For ordinary articles, do not do this. For a landing page or a one-off special project, it is a reasonable choice. For a blog, it is not.

## What to do instead

If you only need custom layout in part of the article, put it in one of the existing insertion points and lose nothing. See Content zones and insertions.

If you already have Elementor Pro and use its Theme Builder for the rest of the site, use the Theme Builder so everything lives in one place. Otherwise the theme source setting is fewer moving parts.

Through Elementor Pro Theme Builder, yes, since it applies templates by condition. The theme source setting is global.

Elementor is not active on the site. Install and activate it, then the option becomes selectable.
