Summary: The profile fields Verba adds for authors: a custom avatar or initials badge, a short position line, social profiles, and a post pinned to the author archive.

These are the fields the theme uses to build the byline under an article and the author page. Find them at [[Users]], editing a profile, in the **User options** group.

## Avatar

- **Avatar source**: A custom image, or initials instead of a photo.

- **Custom avatar**: The image, for the image option.

- **Letters**: How many letters the initials badge shows.

- **Badge background** and **badge text**: The colors of the initials badge.

The initials option exists so authors without a photo still look deliberate rather than missing. A byline where three writers have portraits and one has a gray silhouette looks like a mistake; the same byline with one neat initials badge does not.

## Position

- **User position**: A short line under the name, for example editor or photographer.

Keep it short. It sits under a name in a byline, not on a business card.

## Social profiles

- **Social profiles**: A list of profiles. Each row has an icon, an address, and a label. Drag rows to set the order.

The same **featured post** field categories and tags have, here pinning one post above this author archive.

## What stays standard WordPress

The name and the biography are ordinary WordPress profile fields. Verba does not replace them, it reads them.

Where all of this appears is a separate question. The author box under an article is configured at [[Verba > Theme Options > Single Post > Footer]], covered in the single post section.

The custom avatar set here. If the source is set to initials, the badge is used instead of any photo.

The author box is off in the single post footer settings, or the post fields hide it. Check the global setting first.

With the co-authors integration, yes. Without it, WordPress allows one author per post.
