## Where to change each part of Auno

Product: Auno - Minimal Portfolio FSE WordPress Theme

Summary: Which Auno settings live in Styles, which in the Customizer, which on a block or a template, and which on each project in Auno Pro.

Auno keeps every design value in Styles and every behavior the Site Editor cannot hold in the Customizer. Everything else is a block, a template or a field on a project. This page is the map.

## The map

<table> <thead> <tr> <th>You want to change</th> <th>Where</th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <tr> <td>Colors, fonts, text sizes, spacing, widths, corner radius</td> <td><span data-type="ui-path"><span data-type="ui-segment">Appearance</span><span data-type="ui-segment">Editor</span><span data-type="ui-segment">Styles</span></span>, see <a href="https://hub.jkdevstudio.com/docs/auno/styles-and-settings/colors-fonts-and-layout">colors, fonts and layout</a></td> </tr> <tr> <td>The look of one block (a list row, a card, a cover)</td> <td>The block's <strong>Styles</strong> panel, see <a href="https://hub.jkdevstudio.com/docs/auno/styles-and-settings/block-styles">block styles</a></td> </tr> <tr> <td>The header, the footer, the mobile menu</td> <td>Template parts, at <span data-type="ui-path"><span data-type="ui-segment">Appearance</span><span data-type="ui-segment">Editor</span><span data-type="ui-segment">Patterns</span></span> under <strong>All template parts</strong></td> </tr> <tr> <td>The layout of the blog, a post, an archive or a project</td> <td>Templates, at <span data-type="ui-path"><span data-type="ui-segment">Appearance</span><span data-type="ui-segment">Editor</span><span data-type="ui-segment">Templates</span></span></td> </tr> <tr> <td>The menu</td> <td><span data-type="ui-path"><span data-type="ui-segment">Appearance</span><span data-type="ui-segment">Editor</span><span data-type="ui-segment">Navigation</span></span></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Animations, page transitions, cursor, smooth scroll</td> <td><span data-type="ui-path"><span data-type="ui-segment">Appearance</span><span data-type="ui-segment">Customize</span><span data-type="ui-segment">Auno Theme</span><span data-type="ui-segment">General</span></span>, see <a href="https://hub.jkdevstudio.com/docs/auno/styles-and-settings/motion-and-transitions">motion and page transitions</a></td> </tr> <tr> <td>The scheme a visitor sees first, the switch in the header</td> <td><span data-type="ui-path"><span data-type="ui-segment">Appearance</span><span data-type="ui-segment">Customize</span><span data-type="ui-segment">Auno Theme</span><span data-type="ui-segment">Color scheme</span></span>, see <a href="https://hub.jkdevstudio.com/docs/auno/styles-and-settings/color-schemes">dark and light color schemes</a></td> </tr> <tr> <td>The glow above the header and under the footer</td> <td><span data-type="ui-path"><span data-type="ui-segment">Appearance</span><span data-type="ui-segment">Customize</span><span data-type="ui-segment">Auno Theme</span><span data-type="ui-segment">Glow</span></span></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Background music</td> <td><span data-type="ui-path"><span data-type="ui-segment">Appearance</span><span data-type="ui-segment">Customize</span><span data-type="ui-segment">Auno Theme</span><span data-type="ui-segment">Sound</span></span>, see <a href="https://hub.jkdevstudio.com/docs/auno/styles-and-settings/glow-and-music">glow and background music</a></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Every Customizer setting back to its default</td> <td><span data-type="ui-path"><span data-type="ui-segment">Appearance</span><span data-type="ui-segment">Customize</span><span data-type="ui-segment">Auno Theme</span><span data-type="ui-segment">Advanced</span></span>, <strong>Reset to defaults</strong></td> </tr> <tr> <td>How many posts a blog page shows</td> <td><span data-type="ui-path"><span data-type="ui-segment">Settings</span><span data-type="ui-segment">Reading</span></span></td> </tr> <tr> <td>A project's client, year, timeline, live link and media (Pro)</td> <td>The project editor, see <a href="https://hub.jkdevstudio.com/docs/auno/portfolio/add-a-project">add a project</a></td> </tr> <tr> <td>How a grid shows video and gallery projects (Pro)</td> <td>The <strong>Project videos</strong> and <strong>Project galleries</strong> panels of the grid's Post Template block</td> </tr> <tr> <td>How one block appears as it scrolls into view (Pro)</td> <td>The <strong>Reveal</strong> panel in the block's settings</td> </tr> <tr> <td>License, integrations, demo import</td> <td>The theme dashboard: the <strong>Auno Pro</strong> menu in the admin sidebar. ## Why two places for settings

A block theme describes its design in `theme.json`, and WordPress gives that file a full editor in Styles. Behavior, such as how one page gives way to the next, has no place in `theme.json`, so Auno keeps it in the Customizer under its own panel. The split means you never look for a color in the Customizer: if it changes how the site looks, it is in Styles. [Where colors and fonts went](https://hub.jkdevstudio.com/knowledge-base/full-site-editing/block-theme-colors-and-fonts) explains Styles in general.

## Questions

<details><summary>The Customizer also lists Colors and Menus</summary>

WordPress adds those sections to every Customizer. In Auno, **Colors** is empty, because colors live in Styles, and **Menus** shows no locations, because the menu is the Navigation block edited at [[Appearance > Editor > Navigation]]. The **Auno Theme** panel holds everything the theme adds.

</details>

<details><summary>Some settings show up in the Customizer and some do not</summary>

Settings that depend on another one hide while it is off: **Smoothness** hides when **Smooth scroll** is off, the glow shape and color hide with their glow, and the music settings hide when **Music toggle** is off.

</details>

<details><summary>I changed a template and an update did not change it</summary>

A template saved in the Site Editor is kept in the database and replaces the theme's file. See [a theme update did not change a template I edited](https://hub.jkdevstudio.com/knowledge-base/full-site-editing/edited-template-ignores-theme-update).

</details>

<details><summary>The dashboard moved from the admin menu to Appearance</summary>

That is the free theme from wordpress.org, which may add only one page under Appearance. Activate Auno Pro and the dashboard returns to its own menu.
