Featured Video

Local Options

A post set to the video format can carry a video URL, and the theme puts the player at the top of the post.

Set the post format to Video

In the post editor sidebar, under Format, choose Video. The Featured Video box appears once the format is set.

Paste the video URL

Any link WordPress can embed works: YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, and the rest of the oEmbed providers.

Decide what happens to the featured image

Replace featured image is on by default. With it on, the featured image is hidden on the single post so the thumbnail and the video preview do not show the same frame twice.

Turn it off to keep both.

Post grids and sliders keep showing the featured image, which is what makes the video post look right in a listing. The video appears when the post is opened.

The featured image is still worth setting on a video post. It is what archives, the megamenu, and social previews use.

If the video does not appear, check that the format is Video and that the URL opens on its own. A link behind a login or a region block returns nothing for the site to embed.
