Resource Quotas
Protect your server from runaway cron events. Resource Quotas let you set hard limits on execution time and memory per source plugin - and auto-pause events that exceed them.
This is particularly valuable on shared hosting where a single misbehaving plugin can exhaust server resources and affect every other site on the machine.
#Per-Source Limits
Set limits for each source plugin independently:
Limit | Description |
|---|---|
Daily Time Budget | Maximum total execution time (in seconds) allowed per day |
Per-Event Time Limit | Kill execution if a single run exceeds N seconds |
Daily Event Count | Maximum number of runs per day |
Memory Limit | Auto-pause events that exceed N MB peak memory |
Set Per-Event Time Limit first - it is the most effective guard against runaway executions that would otherwise block the server until they time out naturally.
#What Happens on Breach
When a limit is exceeded:
The event is auto-paused immediately
A violation is logged with the actual vs. limit values
A notification is sent via your configured alert channels
You can review the breach in the Violation Log and either adjust the limit or fix the underlying issue before resuming the event.
#Violation Log
A complete record of every quota breach:
Source plugin
Hook name
Violation type (time, memory, count)
Actual value vs. configured limit
Timestamp
#Daily Reset
Counters (daily time budget and event count) reset at midnight. The reset hour is configurable. Paused events are not automatically resumed on reset - you must manually resume them after reviewing the violation.
Auto-pause keeps misbehaving events offline until you explicitly decide to re-enable them. This is intentional - it prevents the same quota breach from repeating every day without your knowledge.
