Weglot
Weglot provides cloud-based automatic translation with an easy setup process.
#Setup
Install and activate Weglot Translate from the recommended plugins list
Create a free account at weglot.com and get your API key
Go to Weglot > Settings in your WordPress dashboard
Enter your API key and select your original language and target languages
Save changes - your site is now translatable
#Theme Integration
Monogram includes a vendor wrapper that ensures Weglot works seamlessly with Barba.js page transitions. The language switcher automatically reinitializes after each page transition.
The language switcher appears in the navigation area and adapts to both desktop and mobile views.
#How It Works
Weglot translates your content on their servers and serves translated pages via a subdirectory URL structure (e.g., yoursite.com/fr/ for French). It handles:
Automatic machine translation (editable in the Weglot dashboard)
SEO-friendly URLs with hreflang tags
Media translation (different images per language)
Translation memory for consistent terminology
Review machine translations in the Weglot dashboard. Automatic translations are a starting point - edit them for accuracy, especially for portfolio descriptions and key marketing copy.
