Installation Mismatch

When the Monogram theme and its companion plugin are on different versions, you may run into errors or missing functionality. Here how to identify and resolve version mismatch issues.

#"This Theme Requires JKD Theme Core Plugin" Notice

This message appears when the theme detects an outdated or missing core plugin. The theme uses TGMPA (TGM Plugin Activation) to manage required plugins.

1. Look for the admin notification banner at the top of your dashboard
2. Click the link to install or update the JKD Theme Core Plugin
3. If the notification doesn't appear, go to Appearance > Install Plugins to check for pending updates

#Widget Controls Missing or Changed

If Elementor widget controls look different from the documentation, or certain options have disappeared:

• Update both the Monogram theme and the JKD Theme Core Plugin to the latest versions
• After updating, go to Elementor > Tools > Regenerate CSS to rebuild styles
• Clear any caching plugins and your browser cache

The 22 custom Elementor widgets are defined in the core plugin. When the plugin is outdated, newer widget controls added by a theme update won't be available.

#PHP Errors After Update

If you see PHP errors or a white screen after updating:

1. Check your PHP version - Monogram requires PHP 8.0 or higher. Go to Tools > Site Health > Info > Server to verify your PHP version.

2. Clear all caches - Purge your caching plugin, object cache, and any server-level cache (Varnish, LiteSpeed, etc.)

3. Deactivate other plugins to isolate the conflict:

   • Deactivate all plugins except Elementor, ACF PRO, Kirki, JKDEVKIT, and JKD Theme Core Plugin
   • If the error disappears, reactivate plugins one by one to find the conflict

4. Check the debug log for specific error messages (see the WP Debug article in this section)

#Elementor Compatibility

Monogram is tested with the latest version of Elementor. If issues appear after an Elementor update:

• Check if a Monogram theme update is available - it may include Elementor compatibility fixes
• As a temporary workaround, you can roll back Elementor using the WP Rollback plugin
• Report the issue to support with your Elementor and theme version numbers

#Recommended Update Order

When multiple updates are available, follow this order:

1. Back up your site
2. Update WordPress core
3. Update Elementor
4. Update Monogram theme
5. Update JKD Theme Core Plugin
6. Update other plugins (ACF PRO, Kirki, etc.)
7. Clear all caches
8. Test your site
