Archives from an Elementor template

This page and the block pattern one describe the same route in two different editors. The only difference is what you draw with.

It works with free Elementor. The Theme Builder is not required here.

Three steps: build the archive layout as a template, put a post listing inside it, then assign it to your archives in the settings. You design the archive once and it serves every archive page.

#Build it

Archive mode makes the listing take its posts from the page query. On a tag page it shows that tag posts, on a category page that category , and on a search page the results. One template, every archive.

The rest of the widget settings work as usual. See Listing settings and Customizing the look.

#Assign it

Go to VerbaTheme OptionsArchiveGeneral, set the archive source to Elementor template, and pick yours. All four sources live in that one field, and switching between them does not delete anything you built.

#When it is worth it

Worth it: the archive needs a layout that settings cannot produce, or you already work this way.

The same boundary applies here as everywhere else in the theme. Elementor draws the content; the global look stays with the theme. See How Verba uses Elementor and Elementor overrides.

Not worth it: everything you want is in the advanced archives. A template is yours to maintain; settings survive updates on their own.

My template shows the same posts on every archive

Archive mode is off on the listing widget. That is the fix.

Do I need Elementor Pro?

No. This route works with the free version, because the theme is what assigns the template to archives.
