#What the footer is built from

The footer source is chosen the same way as the header: off, native, an Elementor template, or a block pattern. The last two replace the footer entirely.

The native footer is configured almost completely from the Customizer, so replacing it with a template is rarely necessary. That choice is usually an answer to a composition the native one does not offer, rather than a starting point.

#What is in it

Widget columns. The main part of the footer. Fill it with blocks at AppearanceWidgets; the Customizer sets the number of columns, the gap between them, and the padding.

Logo. Your own or the global one, as a light and dark pair, with its own width. See Logo and site identity.

Copyright. Taken from the global branding setting, and overridable here.

Social links. The list of profiles defined once in the settings and reused here.

Footer menus. Two separate locations for their own menus, independent of the main navigation. Created the same way at AppearanceMenus. See Menus.

Scheme toggle. Enabled separately for wide and narrow screens. See Dark mode.

#The posts ticker

A moving line of posts that can sit above the call to action block, at the top of the footer, or at the bottom.

It has its own source, following the same logic as the other zones: off, native, advanced (with the full listing settings), an Elementor template, or a block pattern.

Native is a ready-made line with minimal settings. Advanced gives it the same set as any other post listing. See Post listings.

The same ticker exists in the header. It is one element in two places, so it is configured the same way in both.

My footer widget columns are empty

The widget area has no blocks. The Customizer controls the layout; the content comes from AppearanceWidgets.

Can I hide the footer on one page?

Yes, with the page footer switch. See Page fields.
