Related posts and read also - Verba

Two blocks of posts sit at the end of an article, and the difference between them is who chooses the posts.

Related posts are selected automatically by their relationship to the current post; you choose which relationship in the settings. Read also are posts you picked by hand on the post itself, in its Read Also panel.

Both can be on at once, and that's a normal setup: your hand-picked pointers at the end of the text, the automatic selection under the article.

#The free level

Related posts exist without Pro. They're switched on and configured in the Customizer at AppearanceCustomizeVerba ThemeSingle Post, with Enable Related Posts on the General tab and the heading, count, columns, card type, and Relation on the Related Posts tab. Read also doesn't exist in the free version, because it depends on a Pro post field.

#With Pro

With Single Post Source at VerbaTheme OptionsSingle PostGeneral set to Advanced, both blocks get their own tab on the same page: Related Posts and Read Also. Each opens with a General group holding its switch (both on by default).

Neither block has a styling system of its own. Each tab carries the same listing settings as any other post listing on the site, so the card type, columns, meta, and the rest are configured the way you already know. Related posts also have a Placement: Under the whole article, running the full width, or At the end of the content, inside the text column. Read also always closes the text column.

To put your own section next to them, such as a newsletter box, use the insertion points rather than replacing the blocks. See Content zones and insertions.

#Picking read also posts

In the post editor, open the Read Also panel under the content and add a row per post, up to eight. Search by title in each row and drag rows to set the order.

#Letting AI choose

Both tabs have a Let AI pick switch for sites running the AI Blog integration. For read also, When to use it decides whether AI only fills posts where you picked nothing, or leads and keeps your picks for when it returns nothing. Related posts fall back to the relation you set. The related block shows nothing

The relationship rule found no other posts. On a young site with one post per category that happens often; widen the rule, or wait until you have more material.

The read also block shows nothing

The post's Read Also panel is empty, or Single Post Source is still Native.

Which relationship rule should I use?

Same category is the usual choice and produces sensible results on most sites. Tag-based selection is sharper but needs disciplined tagging to be worth it.
