Key points

The single post Pro
This article covers functionality available to customers on the Pro version.

A short list of what the reader takes away from the article. It works twice: for somebody scanning before they commit, and for somebody coming back a week later trying to remember what was in it.

The difference from the TL;DR: the summary is prose about the topic, the points are a list of conclusions. Your site can have both, one, or neither.

#Set it up

Switch the block on

Go to VerbaTheme OptionsSingle PostBody, group Key Points, and check show key points. It is on by default.

Add the points on the post

In the post editor, in the Editorial panel, use the Key points field. Press the add button for each row, one takeaway per row. Drag rows to reorder them.

With no rows filled in, the block does not appear on that post, even with the switch on.

#Appearance

The title above the list. Empty shows the list alone.

Structure and appearance, set separately. Explained in Reading aids.

The surface the card is painted on, from the theme shared set.

The key points card sits directly under the TL;DR card. Giving them different surfaces looks like a mistake rather than a decision, so keep them matching unless you have a reason.

#Writing good points

One row, one idea. A point the length of a paragraph turns the block into a second introduction, which is exactly what the reader was hoping to skip.

Three to five rows is the working range. Do not number them by hand; the list is already visually marked.

Should every post have key points?

No. They suit explanatory and practical articles. On a personal essay or a news item they read as filler.

Can I reorder points after publishing?

Yes, drag the rows in the editor and update the post.
