Writing a post in Verba

Writing in Verba is ordinary WordPress. The theme does not replace the editor, add a separate writing mode, or ask you to learn a new workflow. It adds blocks and fields alongside what WordPress already gives you.

#The ordinary part

Create a post at PostsAdd New. Title, text in blocks, featured image, category and tags, excerpt, publish date. If any of that is new, the WordPress documentation covers it better than a theme manual can.

Three of those decide how the post looks outside its own page, and they are the ones people skip:

Featured image

Without one, the card in listings falls back to a placeholder. This is the single most visible difference between a site that looks finished and one that does not.

Category

A post with no category drops out of category-based selections, so it will be missing from listings you expected it in.

Excerpt

Write it yourself. Left empty, WordPress cuts the opening text at a fixed length, usually mid-sentence.

#What the theme adds

Blocks. Verba own blocks sit in the inserter next to the standard ones, in their own category, and you add them the same way. What each one does is in Registered blocks.

Fields. Extra fields under the editor and in the side panel. This is where the summary, key points, sources, subtitle, and header style come from. See Post fields.

That is the whole extension. There is no separate advanced editor, and nothing about the writing itself changes.

#Why a post does not look like the demo

Almost always one of four things:

• No featured image.
• No category.
• The theme fields are empty, so the reading aids have nothing to show.
• The post has a different post format than you expect. See Post formats.

Do I need Pro to publish posts?

No. The free theme renders posts completely. Pro adds the extra fields, the reading aids, and the settings that control them.

Can I use a page builder for one post?
