Building a post with an Elementor template - Verba

There are two ways to build the post page in Elementor. Check what you give up before you use either.

#The two routes

Through the theme. At VerbaTheme OptionsSingle PostGeneral, set Single Post Source to Elementor Template and pick the saved template in Single Post Elementor Template. The theme then renders that template in place of the whole post page.

Through Elementor Pro. Build the single post in Elementor Pro's Theme Builder and assign it with a display condition. The theme's single post settings take no part.

Either way the template is the same for every post, so it needs Elementor Pro's dynamic widgets (Post Title, Post Content, Featured Image, Post Comments) to show the current post. Built from ordinary widgets, it shows the same fixed content on every article.

#What you give up

Verba's reading features (the TL;DR, key points, table of contents, reading bar, summarize row, sources, and the share placements) don't appear on such a page, and Verba has no Elementor widgets for them. All of them are drawn by the theme's advanced post layout, which the template replaces.

#What to do instead

If you only need custom layout in part of the article, put an Elementor template or a block pattern into one of the post's insertion points and keep the reading features. See Content zones and insertions.

Which route should I use if I decide to go ahead?

If you already use Elementor Pro's Theme Builder for the rest of the site, use it here too so everything lives in one place. Otherwise the theme's source setting is fewer moving parts, though you still need Elementor Pro's post widgets.

Can I use an Elementor template for one category only?

Through Elementor Pro's Theme Builder, yes, since it applies templates by condition. The theme's source setting is global.

The Elementor option is greyed out in the source list

Elementor isn't active on the site. Install and activate it, then the option becomes selectable.

The post page is empty

No template is chosen in Single Post Elementor Template, the chosen template was deleted, or Elementor was deactivated after you picked it.
