Overriding theme templates with Elementor - Verba

You can replace the header, the footer, the archive, or the post body with an Elementor template. This page covers the two ways to do it. Neither is the recommended route; if you haven't decided yet, read how Verba uses Elementor first.

Only the template zone is replaced. Colors, fonts, and the rest of the theme styles stay with the theme in both methods.

#Method 1: pick an Elementor template in Theme Options

This works with free Elementor. Build and save a template in Elementor, then pick it in the setting for the zone. The theme renders your template in place of its own.

Header

Navigation Source set to Elementor Template, at VerbaTheme OptionsNavigationGeneral. Posts Ticker Source in the same group does the same for the ticker bar under the navigation.

Footer

Footer Source set to Elementor Template, at VerbaTheme OptionsFooterGeneral. CTA Source, for the call to action above the footer, and the footer posts ticker take a template of their own in the same group.

Archives

Archive Source set to Elementor Template, at VerbaTheme OptionsArchiveGeneral.

Single post

Inside the article

The injected blocks and the in-article injection on the Single Post page can use an Elementor template as their content. See content zones and insertions.

The Elementor Template choice stays greyed out until Elementor is active.

#Method 2: Elementor Theme Builder

This needs Elementor Pro. The template is managed by Elementor, and its display conditions replace the theme template completely.

With Elementor Pro active, Archive Source no longer offers its own template picker for archives. It shows a note pointing you to Theme Builder, since that's where an Elementor Pro site builds archive layouts.

#Why neither method is the default

None of the studio demos uses either method. A full Elementor build costs speed and makes the interaction with the theme less stable, for the reasons in how Verba uses Elementor.

It suits somebody who already has a working Elementor process and is knowingly trading part of the theme's behavior for a familiar tool.

#Check the site after you replace a zone

An Elementor template doesn't inherit the behavior the theme template gave you for free. Walk through each of these:

• The site on a phone

• The dark scheme

• One post of each format you publish

• The archive with pagination, and page two
